Hosting an ABFS Course

Success in the alpaca industry comes from a comprehensive understanding of alpaca breeding, products, and business. It is important to develop a breeding program to enhance and improve alpaca fiber product outcomes, the marketability of the fiber and the alpaca. ABFS courses are designed to equip participants with the knowledge and tools to help with these objectives. ABFS courses have been created with the serious alpaca breeder in mind. Curriculums are designed to educate breeders on the highest standards of alpaca breeding, market trends and history, animal husbandry and fiber evaluation expertise – all to equip the breeder to compete well in the marketplace. AFBS curriculums will include courses in fiber, herd health, and even marketing. Our faculty members are knowledgeable, recognized experts in the field of camelid health, breeding, fiber and judging. ABFS is offering courses throughout the U.S., England, and Canada. A Peruvian Breeders Course and Tour is being planned for 2006.

Earn “Graduate” status with ABFS courses
Participants in each course will earn credits toward the status of an ABFS Graduate. Successful students pass written exams following each course and must accumulate credits in specific categories for Graduate status. Those earning this status will have access the ABFS logo for use in their promotional materials, signifying to clients and prospective clients that they are knowledgeable breeders who can offer them expertise, and are valuable resources in all areas of the alpaca business.

Hosting an ABFS Course has many benefits.
1) Association with ABFS, its high standards, excellent offerings and distinguished faculty will enhance the visibility and recognition of a hosting farm.

2) Hosting an ABFS course brings participants to your farm enhancing your client base and sales efforts. It is a great marketing tool!

3) Hosts, of course, at no charge, take the course too and thus reward themselves with a tremendous educational opportunity that will help in their own breeding programs.

4) Hosts and their Farms will be listed on the ABFS website with links to their farm.
What Hosts can expect from ABFS
1) Web advertising for your particular course. ABFS will send email announcements, professionally created, to industry lists. ABFS will also list your event on the ABFS website and send to other appropriate websites for inclusion in their event calendars.

2) ABFS will consult with host on their promotion, providing biographies of instructors and course descriptions. Mailer layouts will be available to hosts for their own publicity.

3) ABFS will contract with course instructors and take care of travel arrangements for you.

4) ABFS will consult with Host regarding course logistics

5) ABFS will provide course handouts and resource materials for each course.
